Myopia, also known as near-sightedness, has become a global health issue in recent years.
Causes and Risk Factors
Children, now more than ever before, are continuously using smart devices. Consequently, the eye growth in children that is stimulated causes near-sightedness (myopia). Moreover, it causes a stretch of the inner layer of the eye called retina.
As a result, the stretch in retina allows other areas in the eye to become weaker. A tear in the retina, therefore, can cause other eye conditions. Hereditary, behavioural and environmental factors also play an important part in progression of myopia.
